Michael Loy - Director of Training
Michael Loy moved to Idaho Falls in 2016 to help further the shooting sports in Southeast Idaho. Before becoming the General Manager of Guns N Gear, he accumulated more than a decade of experience as a full-time Firearms Instructor and Director of Training for Trigger Control Training based out of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. In addition to his professional experience, he brings a lifetime of shooting sports passion with him; he is a NRA Life Member, an Idaho Hunter Education Instructor, and a personal protection training enthusiast. Mike has a passion for helping his community, growing the shooting sports, and sharing his knowledge with everyone he meets. You will find Mike working in our store most every day. Dillon Maughan - FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR
Dillon J. Maughan grew up in Idaho Falls enjoying the beautiful outdoors and a strong Second Amendment environment. His training consists of both firearms and hand-to-hand through various groups, such as Universal Security, Trigger Control Training, NRA, and many others. He is also a Certified Smith & Wesson Armorer. Dillon's formal work experience began in 2010 when he joined Tactical Security for event security and patrol. In 2014 he was recruited to Guns N Gear as a Range Safety Officer and has since began working in Sales and has become an Apprentice Instructor for Trigger Control Training.
Jeff Layton - Firearms Instructor
Jeff Layton is an Apprentice Instructor for Trigger Control Training. His love of firearms dates back to the day he got his first Red Ryder BB gun. He has been working on his firearms skills ever since. Jeff joined the Marine Corps in 1988 and was an infantry man. After he got out of the Corps, he joined the National Guard in 1993. In 1996 he and his partner won the State Machine Gun Match and went on to represent Idaho at nationals in Little Rock Arkansas. The next year he competed in the State Rifle Match and once again went on to represent our great state. After that he went on to the Army Small Arms Instructor and Range Operations Course where he learned to teach folks how to use the Small Arms that were used in the service. Jeff then went to the Army Master Marksman Course where he learned to teach the other Instructors and became the lead Marksmanship Instructor for his battery. After retiring in 2008 he still dabbled with shooting where he could, but was thrilled when he was given the opportunity to train and teach again with Trigger Control Training.
Leonard Haag - Firearms Instructor

Melinda Haag - Apprentice Firearms Instructor
Melinda was born and raised in Utah then moved to Idaho when she was 20 years old. She has been married for 27 years, is the mother of three boys who are all active military, and has one grandson. Melinda enjoys being around family, camping, skiing, quilting, and various other hobbies. She started with Trigger Control Training in the Apprentice Instructor Development program in November of 2016 and really enjoys it. She has gained a lot of knowledge being part of the program and continues to grow and improve daily.
Rob Willsey - Civilian and Law Enforcement Instructor
Rob Willsey is a 31 year Law Enforcement Veteran with a Masters Certification. He has been a Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor for over 29 years. He is an Idaho POST Certified Firearms Instructor, Gun Site graduate, is NRA Certified in Law Enforcement Handgun, Tactical Shotgun, Tactical Rifle/Pistol, Patrol Rifle, and is a Precision Rifle Instructor. He is a former IFPD Sergeant, SWAT Team Member, Sniper Team, Lead Firearms Instructor and Armorer. In August of 2003 he left the IFPD to work for the Department of State’s Anti Terrorism Assistance Program serving in Colombia South America, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Rob completed his career at the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office as a Firearms Instructor and Back Country Mountain Rescue Deputy earning an EMT certification. He retired from the Sheriff’s Office in Dec 2015 where he still instructs firearms for the Sheriff’s Office, Idaho POST Academy, and Guns N Gear.
